Design bulk-solid silos and liquid storage from the stored material to the foundation. Pick a corrugated grain bin, an elevated hopper silo for food powders, a welded steel silo, a slipformed concrete silo, an API 650 petroleum tank or an LPG bullet; set the geometry and the stored solid or liquid, and the studio works out filling and discharge pressures (Janssen and EN 1991-4), hopper loads and mass-flow geometry, shell buckling and course thicknesses, concrete wall hoop steel, wind and earthquake actions (including tank sloshing and anchorage), the supporting legs or skirt and the raft, ringwall or saddle foundation. It draws a numbered set of engineering drawings with every detail, animates the construction step by step with its hold points, estimates quantities, and reports to PDF and Excel.
Preliminary engineering tool. Material properties are published characteristic values and the sample project is synthetic. Check final designs against EN 1991-4 / AS 3774, EN 1993-4-1, AS 3600, API 650, AS 1170.2 and AS 1170.4 or your local codes.
What the silo & tank studio does
Six structures are covered: corrugated bolted grain bins built by jacking, elevated hopper silos for food powders, welded steel silos on a skirt for cement and fly ash, slipformed reinforced-concrete silos, API 650 vertical storage tanks for petroleum liquids, and LPG bullets on saddles. For bulk solids the studio takes the stored material's unit weight, wall friction and lateral pressure ratio and works out filling and discharge pressures by Janssen and EN 1991-4 / AS 3774 (slender, intermediate and squat silos, patch loads), hopper pressures, mass- or funnel-flow by Jenike's boundaries, and the axial and hoop resultants down the wall.
Structural design follows the material: steel shells course by course with meridional buckling to EN 1993-1-6 and wind buckling of the empty silo, corrugated bins ring by ring (sheet gauge, seam bolts and stiffeners), concrete walls with hoop steel for strength and crack control, API 650 tanks by the one-foot method with wind girders and Annex E seismic (impulsive and convective masses, sloshing, anchorage ratio), and pressure vessels to ASME VIII with Zick saddle stresses. Wind to AS/NZS 1170.2 and earthquake to AS 1170.4 feed the supports and the raft, ringwall or saddle foundation, which can be auto-sized for bearing, overturning, sliding and tilt.
Each design produces a numbered set of A3 engineering drawings — general arrangement, shell or wall schedule, six construction details and the foundation — an animated construction sequence with hold points, quantities and cost, and a PDF report and Excel workbook with live formulas.
