Design, analyse, draw and plan the execution of ground improvement for embankments, building pads and land reclamation: prefabricated vertical drains with surcharge, vacuum consolidation, sand compaction piles, stone columns, deep soil mixing and jet grouting, rigid inclusions with a load-transfer platform, dynamic compaction and vibro compaction. Settlement and consolidation, drain spacing and surcharge, staged slip-circle stability with strength gain, liquefaction before and after treatment, reclamation fill and dredging, rock-bund armour and overtopping, and Asaoka monitoring feed an A3 drawing set, a 3D model, a staged construction sequence with hold points and ITP, quantities, cost and programme.
Preliminary design for feasibility and education. Ground parameters are typical defaults — replace them with site-specific investigation, calibrate with trials and field monitoring, and have the design checked by a qualified geotechnical engineer. The sample projects are synthetic.
What the ground improvement & reclamation studio does
Three applications — road and rail embankments, building and storage pads, and land reclamation behind a rock bund — and eight methods: prefabricated vertical drains with surcharge, vacuum consolidation, sand compaction piles, stone columns (vibro replacement), deep soil mixing and jet grouting, rigid inclusions with a load-transfer platform, dynamic compaction and vibro compaction. A method selector screens each method against the ground profile, and every input follows Australian (AS 1726, AS 3798, TMR) or British practice (BS EN 1997-1, BS EN 15237, 14731, 14679, 12716, BS 8006-1, BS 6349-5).
The analysis runs from the ground model to the handover: primary settlement with fill submergence, creep with the surcharge benefit, Terzaghi and Hansbo consolidation with smear and well resistance, surcharge and drain-spacing design, Priebe improvement factors, composite ground, BS 8006 arching for rigid inclusions, Ménard depth of improvement and vibration limits, vibro-compaction spacing, Bishop slip-circle stability with staged construction and strength gain, Idriss and Boulanger liquefaction before and after treatment, reclamation fill volumes and dredger production, rock-bund armour (Hudson) and overtopping (EurOtop), and Asaoka monitoring to decide when to remove the surcharge. It produces an A3 drawing set, a 3D model, a staged construction sequence with hold points, ITP and safety and environmental controls, a bill of quantities, a programme and an Excel workbook with live formulas.
