Concrete cores: corrected strength and acceptance calculator
Core compressive strengths corrected for length/diameter ratio, the mean and the lowest, against the usual in-situ acceptance criteria.
Standard: AS 1012.14 core testing · L/D correction (ASTM C42) · acceptance: mean ≥ 0.85f′c and each ≥ 0.75f′c (ACI 318 26.12.6)

| Input | Value | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Specified f′c | 32 | MPa |
| Cores: id, length (mm), diameter (mm), failure load (kN) | C1, 190, 94, 213 C2, 160, 94, 205 C3, 140, 94, 196 |
Worked example — results
| Result | Value | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest corrected | 27.08 | MPa |
| Limit: 0.85f′c (mean) | 27.20 | MPa |
| Limit: 0.75f′c (each) | 24.00 | MPa |
| Mean corrected | 28.87 | MPa |
- ✓ Mean ≥ 0.85f′c
- ✓ Each core ≥ 0.75f′c
Method, formulas and assumptions
- Lowest corrected = MIN([t.fcorr]) = 27.077 MPa
- Limit: 0.85f′c (mean) = 0.85*32 = 27.2 MPa
- Limit: 0.75f′c (each) = 0.75*32 = 24 MPa
- Mean corrected = AVERAGE([t.fcorr]) = 28.869 MPa
- Use the acceptance rules of the project specification where they differ; AS 1379 / AS 3600 do not set in-situ core criteria in this form.
